Why we keep going on about updates
We know, the "Restart to install updates" window always shows up at the worst possible time. Still, it's one of the most important things we do for your computers.
An update is often a lock being fixed
When Microsoft, Apple or another vendor releases a security update, they're also announcing that a flaw existed. Attackers read those announcements too. From there it's a race: up-to-date devices are protected, the rest become easy targets.
It's not just Windows
The browser, Adobe Reader, Zoom, the router, the network printer: everything that's plugged in has its own updates. A single forgotten device can be the way in for the rest of the office.
How we handle it
With our managed plans, we schedule updates for times that get in the way as little as possible, and we follow up on the ones that get stuck. It's not always to the minute, but it's watched.
What you can do
When your computer asks to restart, let it happen at the end of the day instead of postponing one more time. And if a device seems like it's been forgotten for a while, let us know.
